Sunil Gavaskar Commented ‘He can walk into any T20 team in the world, not just India’

Gavaskar remarked shortly after India’s 3-0 thrashing of the West Indies all through Kolkata on Sunday.

Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer put on a remarkable 91-run 5th wicket stand to help the Men in Blue recover from a difficult position of 61-3.

Sunil Gavaskar, a former India captain, lavished praise on 28-year-old India’s star Jasprit Bumrah, declaring the Indian T20I side “richly endowed” in the pace-bowling department.

Gavaskar remarked shortly after India’s 3-0 thrashing of the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday. Bumrah, on the other hand, was absent from the series due to task management.

In an interview with Star Sports, Gavaskar praised Deepak Chahar’s ability to hit the ball both ways without changing his motion. The renowned batsman then praised the Indian team for having a diverse pace attack for the T20 World Cup, including Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Mohammed Siraj.

“He is a terrific swing bowler. He isn’t express, but he gets the ball to move at a decent pace, making it difficult for a batsman. He has that extra space as well. And he has got both the in-swinger and the out-swinger without a noticeable change in action, which makes it difficult. So when you have someone like him and have Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the bench after two fine performances in the series, India is blessed as far as riches in bowling are concerned,” he said.

“There is Bumrah. Don’t forget him. He will walk into any team in the world, not just the India team, any team. Then you have Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami…spoilt for choices.”

Bumrah shall return for the upcoming three-match T20I series versus Sri Lanka at Lucknow, starting on February 24.

Bhuvneshwar, Siraj, and Chahar have been included in the squad, as Avesh Khan made his global debut against the West Indies in the 3rd T20I. For the series, both Shami and Shardul Thakur have been rested.
