Phase of Ranji Trophy League To Start From February 16 & To Culminate on 5th March

According to the BCCI’s new schedule, red ball domestic cricket within India will resume after 2 years whenever the league phase of said Ranji Trophy takes place from February 16 to March 5.

The league stage of said Ranji Trophy in 2021-22 is expected to take place from February 16 to March 5. 38 teams are competing within the Ranji Trophy are expected to be split across 9 shortlisted locations, according to the BCCI’s proposal.

Ranji Trophy League Venues 2022

The BCCI selected venues with multiple grounds such that concurrent matches might take place within one specific group, bearing in mind the brief window in which it needs to implement the main first-class competition.

Over than one state organization, that holds the shortlisted location, acknowledged that it’s the BCCI which planned to host four teams each venue within Elite Group, according to unofficial reports. It was unclear if the 6 teams within the Plate group will be hosted in one site or many locations. The state organizations stated that they were anticipating an official word from BCCI mostly in near future.

Teams will be split into nine groups and will compete in nine different locations: Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Cuttack, Rajkot, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

Ranji Trophy League The Two Phases 2022

Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, revealed on January 27 that now the board has agreed to split the Ranji Trophy into two parts. The league phase was set in the February-March bracket, but the knockouts were set for June, putting the IPL 2022 schedule in the April-May bracket.

Teams that do not advance toward the following round would only compete in three matches instead of 5 in the previous format, which will influence the participants’ match fees.

Ranji Trophy League Schedule 2022

The Ranji Trophy was originally supposed to begin on January 13, however, it was indefinitely postponed due to an increase in Covid-19 instances throughout India. The rate of recovery due to the third wave of the said epidemic was good, Shah added, however, the BCCI will indeed continue to also have biosecure chambers for the event to avoid any dangers.

Presently, Phase 1 of the Ranji Trophy league will begin on February 16 and & on March 5th.
