When NFL 2022 was first released in August 2021, this was met with harsh criticism from critics and fans of the franchise (via Metacritic). Regardless, hundreds of thousands of gamers continue to play Madden 2022 every week.

EA is making the game available for free, but only for a limited period to broaden its user base.

Twitch has partnered with Amazon Prime Gaming to offer players the chance to get seven games for free in March 2022.
