Live Updates on Election Results in 2022: The most anticipated moment of this year’s largest assembly elections, which spanned five states – Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Goa – occurred at 8 a.m., when the ballots were counted. While this may take hours to gain a complete picture of the voters’ decision, the first trends should emerge shortly after the postal ballots are counted.

Early indications suggest that the BJP will win a landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh, whilst Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will take Punjab. In Uttar Pradesh, the saffron party has over 260 seats, whereas in Punjab, the AAP is ahead in over 80 constituencies. In Uttarakhand, the BJP has acquired a commanding lead in more than 40 seats, while Harish Rawat, the state’s Congress chief, is lagging. Early indications predict a close race in Goa, with the BJP edging out the Congress by a hair. In Uttar Pradesh and Manipur, several exit polls anticipated a comfortable victory for the governing Bharatiya Janata Party, with an edge in Uttarakhand and a close race in Goa. Exit polling indicates that Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) can make a significant leap in Punjab, for one pollster forecasting up to 111 seats for Arvind Kejriwal’s party within 117-member legislature.

At 8 a.m., the votes for the 690 seats split over five states began to be counted. As the outcomes of the five-state Assembly elections begin to trickle in, all attention would be on the dead-heat races in Uttarakhand and Goa, where the BJP and the Congress are locked in a stalemate, as per exit polls. Although most pollsters predict the BJP to cruise to victory in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur, Punjab is anticipated to see an abrupt event of power into the hands of the AAP.
