Ahead of the Final Voting Phase in Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister Holds a Roadshow in Varanasi

After submitting his nomination papers for the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Modi began his initial roadshow within Varanasi from the very same location.

As Narendra Modi launched a major roadshow in Varanasi to gather support for BJP candidates before the final phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, crowds shouted and poured flower petals on his cavalcade.

PM Modi rode in an open-roof car as the convoy passed through the sacred city, a section of the Prime Minister’s Lok Sabha constituency. Behind him, two security guards stood.

As PM Modi waved or clasped his palms in a ‘namaste,’ the audience screamed “Jai Shri Ram” and “Har Har Mahadev,” and rose petals were thrown at many locations. The Prime Minister was dressed in a saffron headgear with a “gamcha” (towel) around his neck.

Crowds surrounded PM Modi during the tour, with many people waving at him from balconies and rooftops.

PM Modi landed in the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency post speaking at a rally in nearby Mirzapur as part of a two-day visit ahead of the March 7 election.

On Friday, other political heavyweights arrived in Varanasi. Late in the evening, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, was due to hold a roadshow. In contrast, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, the leaders of the Congress, attended a rally in the area.

PM Modi kicked off the event by garlanding a memorial of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Maldahiya crossing.

After a three-kilometre journey, the PM arrived at the Kashi Vishwanath temple, offering prayers.

He then proceeded to Lanka Chowk, wherein he adorned Madan Mohan Malviya’s statue, bringing the celebration to a close. Many devotees at Lahurabir greeted the PM by chanting hymns. People performed at Kabirchaura while devotional music was played.

After filing his nomination papers for the 2014 Lok Sabha election, PM Modi began his maiden roadshow into Varanasi from the same location.

PM Modi will spend the night in the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) hotel, according to BJP city president Vidyasagar Rai.

The 3 assembly segments of Varanasi North, Cantonment, and Varanasi South were covered by PM Modi’s roadshow.
